Blast Off Vintage

Blast Off Vintage is the only place in Salem, Oregon where you can shop vintage leather jackets, curated denim, rare vinyl, and skateboards while the floor shakes beneath your feet from the all-ages punk show happening in the basement below. Opened in 2014 by co-owners Kati Geisler and Pete Ingraham with the motto "Kicking ass in the clothes fight since 2014," the shop has become the beating heart of Salem's underground music scene, filling a gap that no other venue in the city has managed to fill. Kati hand-picks every item in the store on buying trips through Oregon, while she and Pete together have carefully curated the basement show calendar with the same community-first philosophy that runs through every aspect of the operation. The basement venue is deliberately intimate and accessible, with a ten dollar cover typically covering three to four bands and keeping the room available to anyone regardless of income. For many Salem-area young people, Blast Off is where they see their first live show, standing just feet from the band in a space where moshing, dancing, and community coexist comfortably across all ages. Past performers have included Agent Orange, D.O.A., Zeke, Green Jelly, The Latter Day Skanks, Bazooka Sharks, The Doug Furys, Crimetime, Vicious Cycles, and many more from the Pacific Northwest punk, ska, and hardcore scenes. The venue is also committed to accessibility for Salem's large houseless youth population, never charging those who cannot pay. Shows are generally held one to two times per month between April and October, with the basement going quiet from November through March.
