The Regency Ballroom

The Regency Ballroom is one of the most architecturally stunning and historically significant concert venues in San Francisco, a 1,400-capacity beaux-arts treasure at the northeast corner of Van Ness and Sutter that has been turning heads since it was built in 1909 as part of what is considered the finest example of Scottish Rite temple architecture in the country. The Grand Ballroom features blonde hardwood floors, a horseshoe-shaped balcony, a built-in stage, 35-foot ceilings, and 22 turn-of-the-century teardrop chandeliers that create an atmosphere of genuine grandeur without sacrificing any of the energy that makes a great concert room. The building also houses Social Hall SF and The Lodge as separate event spaces, each with its own distinct character and a full suite of accompanying rooms. Operated by Goldenvoice and AEG, the Regency programs a wide and ambitious calendar of ticketed concerts spanning metal, electronic, indie rock, alternative, K-pop, darkwave, Americana, bluegrass, and everything in between, with upcoming and recent performers including Cattle Decapitation, Behemoth, Deicide, Rotting Christ, Immolation, EVERGLOW, Benjamin Tod, VTSS, Brujeria, Baby J, Grayscale, and Lebanon Hanover. The venue is centrally located and served by multiple Muni bus lines, with paid public parking in several nearby lots. For music listeners accustomed to smaller Bay Area rooms, the Regency delivers a step-up experience where the production quality, sightlines, and sound match the scale of the room without losing the intimacy that makes a ballroom format special.
