Wright Opera House

Built in 1888 to bring arts and culture to the mountain town of Ouray, the Wright Opera House has stood through generations of change and is currently being restored into a modern performing arts center. The 160-person venue hosts shows once or twice a month, generally on a Saturday, and the programming leans Americana, folk, jazz, pop, and reggae. The room's historical weight and small scale give shows a sense of occasion that newer venues rarely match. For guests, it is one of the most distinctive places to catch a concert in the San Juans; for artists, playing a stage with more than a century of history is its own reward.
